As one of my favorite issues each year, I hope this May 2022 issue engages you in many different ways, because in these days and times it is vital to have eyes and ears that can perceive the current realities of our world. Your feedback on the videos is welcome.

GreenBiz 22 conference – Eco-friendly footwear and apparel brand Allbirds is known for its data-driven, collaborative approach to reducing carbon emissions. The public company has their sustainability principles embedded in their mission statement and has made its carbon accounting methods available to the world, even sharing technical innovations with competitors to help improve practices across the apparel sector.
American Institute of Architects – Before Edward Mazria, AIA helped launch Architecture 2030 in 2002, the industry had little to no impetus to act on climate change. Then Ed, with a background in sustainable design, discovered architecture’s outsized role in emissions as designers of the built environment. By making these findings public, he spurred the industry to change its approach — and began helping the industry get to zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Savory Institute – For 20 years, Jörgen Andersson has been the driving force behind Fjällbete, a farm in Sweden with a mission to close the gap between the land and its people. As the learning site for Holistic Management Sverige – the Savory Hub in Sweden – Fjällbete is facilitating a Nordic network for regenerative agriculture and helping people of all ages explore their “caring capacity” as farmers and community builders.
GreenBiz 22 Conference – In his new book, Net Positive: How Courageous Companies Thrive by Giving More Than They Take, sustainable business icon and visionary, Paul Polman, asks the question, “Is this world better off because your business is in it?” Joel Makower of GreenBiz and Paul explore what’s behind that question, what it means to be a net positive company, and your role as a leader in the journey to net positive.
Eventide – Thoughtful investors aim to avoid human rights issues, like forced labor. But what if an entire supply chain is riddled with forced labor issues? The Future of Food, was an official SXSW 2022 event presented Foodtank, who is building a global community for safe, healthy, nourished eaters. They aim to educate, inspire, advocate, and create change. Spotlighting and support environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable ways of alleviating hunger, obesity, and poverty and create networks of people, organizations, and content to push for food system change.
Wall Street Green Summit 2022 – Hazel Henderson is a world-renowned futurist, evolutionary economist, a worldwide syndicated columnist, consultant on sustainable development, and author of the award-winning book Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy (2006) and eight other books. She leads the Transforming Finance initiative, co-manages the Green Transition Scoreboard and is the founder of Ethical Markets Media.
After JUST Capital celebrated the JUST 100 in April at the Nasdaq, moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin sat down with C-Suite Leaders Jennifer Grancio, CEO of Engine No. 1; Doug Sieg, CEO & Managing Partner of Lord Abbett; and Karen Snow, Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. Listings and Revenue at Nasdaq, to discuss the strategic imperative, now and in the future, of the “S” in ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance.
