New Alternatives Fund Introduces a New Investor Share Class

By Pope Francis

New Alternatives Fund, a socially responsible mutual fund emphasizing investment in renewable energy and energy conservation, has introduced a new no-load Investor share class which became available in January 2015.

New Alternatives, founded in 1982, is the first U.S. mutual fund to focus on alternative energy and the environment. The Fund will continue to offer its original “A” share with a front-end load. These shares are also available with a load waiver when purchased through registered investment advisors or as part of an institutional retirement plan.

Originally incorporated as a New York State Corporation, the Fund has recently converted to a Delaware Trust. New Alternatives Fund seeks long term capital appreciation by investing in both domestic and foreign securities in a wide range of industries that are oriented to a clean and sustainable environment, with a special interest in renewable energy.

“Now the Fund has reorganized itself as a Delaware Trust and created a no-load class, we expect to attract a wider audience,” said David Schoenwald, co-founder and President of the Fund.  “The new share class will be of interest to existing shareholders wishing to increase their holdings, as well as to new shareholders.”

The Fund\’s investment advisor is Accrued Equities Inc.  Since 1982, the advisor has focused its efforts and expertise investing in socially responsible companies oriented to alternate energy and a clean environment.

Investing in the concentrated area of the environment and alternate energy has economic, political and technological risks.

Foreign securities may involve certain additional risks, including exchange rate fluctuations, less liquidity, greater volatility and less regulation.  Investment in renewable energy and the environment may be subject to a higher degree of market risk than diversified funds because of concentration in a specific sector.

New Alternatives Fund is distributed by Foreside Fund Distributors Inc., 400 Berwyn Park, 899 Cassat Rd., Berwyn, PA 19312 and New Alternatives Fund, 150 Broadhollow Rd., #PH2, Melville, NY 11747.
